- Biggest Little GrowerOct 16, 2017Cannabis Grow GuideNow that we have our Cannabis seeds germinated and a tap root is present it is time to plant our new seed. The first thing you need to do is decide which type of medium you will be growing in. I prefer growing in Coco Coir so I will explain the process of preparing your Coco Coir properly before planting your seed. Coco Coir is an inexpensive and reusable medium making it a great choice for indoor growers. You can pick up some Coco Coir for cheap here http://amzn.to/2ymXrPe . The number one rule when preparing Coco Coir is to make sure you completely rinse it. Coco Coir is heavy in salt as it comes from coconut husk and it will severely burn or even kill your new seedling if it is not rinsed thoroughly. I recommend a PPM meter as these will tell you when your Coco Coir is clean and the salts have been removed. You can pick up a PPM meter for under $20.00 here http://amzn.to/2yq6YGW . If you can not afford a PPM meter then I recommend you rinse your Coco Coir four to five times. It is also recommended that you finish rinsing your Coco Coir with PH balanced water. For growing Cannabis in Coco Coir we want a PH of 5.6 to 6.2 but I recommend aiming right for 5.8. If you don't have a PH Pen it is a must have for growing and you can get a cheap one here http://amzn.to/2zcFp1g . Once your Coco Coir is fully rinsed of its heavy salt content you are ready to plant your germinated seeds. Your Coco Coir should be wet at this time from rinsing and you want to push your finger about a 1/2" into your medium to create a small little hole. Gently grab your germinated seed and place it into your newly made hole with the tap root facing down. Gently cover your seed with Coco Coir with a little pat and place it under your light. Your seed is now successfully planted and your new cannabis plant should sprout within 2-5 days. Your new seedlings will not need any nutrients for the first few weeks of its life. The most common mistake new growers make is over watering. It is especially easy to over water a new seedlings and I don't recommend watering till your pot is completely dried out. Seedlings don't have a developed root zone and therefore can not drink very much water. It is not uncommon to only need to water a seedlings once a week.
